The Inner Vizion

Breaking Through From The Inside Out!

Living My Way

on 15/09/2017

There are mornings when I’ve woken up and said, out loud, ‘I’m just really tired of living life my way.’  It seems to have worked for a while, but when I put myself totally in charge of me, there are barriers that pop up out of nowhere.  Like a real-life video game, with roadblocks and obstructions that appear right in front of me to thwart my every plan.

Living my way just doesn’t work.  It’s a plain and simple fact.  I need guidance.  And plenty of it.  There needs to be someone else on my side.  Someone whispering that I need to turn left or right or stop when I find myself blindfolded or in a fog.

Having a co-creative partner has been essential in my life.  Someone to throw ideas around.  Someone to truly listen to me.  Someone that I trust.  Most of all, someone that gets me.

I’ve had many friends, lots of acquaintances, but I’ve moved, they’ve moved, life changed on their side and mine, as this world keeps spinning. But the one constant has been my relationship with Jesus Christ.  I talk to him out loud, in my head, while I’m driving, before I go to sleep, when I wake up.  He is a friend that never leaves.  Scripture says that faith is the evidence of things unseen.  I’ve always had a faith that was very visual.  I see the evidence of my Savior, my friend, my guide, everywhere.

Listening has not always been an easy task for me.  My brain moves a thousand miles a minute…it is something that I’ve had to learn to control.  But what is so cool, is that I don’t have to control that when it comes to Jesus.  He tracks with me!

And when I live His way.  When I truly listen to His next steps for me, He brings gifts and fruit into my life.  That is evidence.  That is things seen. Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control.  Those are gifts that I want to open every day of my life.  Silk ribbons on pretty packages ready for me to untie and live with and in and share every day.

But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard — things like affections for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely. – YouVersion
